What is Plantar Fasciitis?
Plantar Fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot, connecting your heel bone to your toes. It acts like a shock absorber and supports the arch of your foot. When this fascia becomes strained or overstretched, tiny tears can occur, leading to inflammation and pain.
Common symptoms include:
- Sharp, stabbing pain in the bottom of the heel, especially with the first steps in the morning or after sitting.
- Pain that may lessen after a few steps but returns after long periods of standing or activity.
- Pain that is worse after exercise, not during it.
